Goodwin’s Lectures on the Phillips Machine in 1963
Michael Kuczynski

From the early 1950s - when he first moved from Cambridge, Mass. to Cambridge, England - until
the late 1960s, Richard Goodwin's second-year undergraduate lectures were elegantly and effectively complemented by practical demonstrations on the Cambridge version of the Phillips Machine, of Keynesian policy-régime possibilities in business-cycle models. This paper attempts to recall the atmosphere and intellectual backdrop against which those lectures were delivered.
